Looking After Your Health Whilst Working From Home

With many millions of people now working from home, associated health symptoms are on the rise. Slouching on the sofa, comfort eating, and skipping over your usual personal hygiene routine are all common side effects of a work from home schedule, but it’s important that you can take the right steps to maintain proper wellbeing despite the increased time spent indoors. Looking after your health doesn’t have to be as difficult as you might think, as there are a few key areas in which you can focus your efforts to feel as right as rain in no time at all! So, if you want to find out more, then read on to uncover some of the best tips and tricks that you can make the most of today.

Eat A Balanced Diet

One of the most important things that you must do to maintain optimum health is to eat a balanced diet. Consuming an excess of fat, sugar, and salt will do nothing to benefit your well-being, instead of encouraging uncomfortable conditions that can negatively affect your quality of life. Aim to eat 3 nutritious meals made up of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and a large portion of fruit and vegetables, along with healthy snacks like nuts and seeds for an extra vitamin-packed punch. It can be tempting to visit the kitchen regularly whilst working from home, whether it’s due to boredom or in search of reward or motivation, but you must avoid indulging in treats like chocolate and crisps and this will only give you a short burst of intense energy followed by a slump in which you may even become irate and grouchy.

Staying Active

Working from home can encourage you to reduce your activity levels quite dramatically, but it’s vital that you can maintain a good level of fitness and exercise for the benefit of your health. It’s a good idea to aim for 60 minutes of sport or exercise every day, whether you choose something low impact like yoga or opt for a more high energy workout such as HIIT, and there are many home exercise plans which you can follow without having to even leave the house! Exercise helps to support good cardiovascular health, manage weight and even improve mental health, so it’s something you really shouldn’t miss out on.

Screen Time

Spending your shift looking at your computer is something that might be a requirement for your job role, but this can encourage eye strain, headaches and migraines to name just a few. It might not be possible to reduce your screen time to help combat this, but there are certain solutions that you can explore. For example, finding a high-quality pair of blue light glasses will reflect the harmful blue light that emits from most LED screens, and they can be very cheap to source.

Looking after your health whilst working from home has never been so simple when you’re able to make the most of the top tips detailed above!
